| Hello! I am Trista, a young Barnowl and I am 1,5 years old. I am raised on a farm and I teach the people of Gouda how barnowls look like, what they eat, how they fly, at what time they hunt, well… things like that. It is really surprising that a lot of people do not know anything about birds… let alone owls, except for some silly things from Dutch TV programs such as “Fabeltjeskrant”, where children always get the wrong idea about me and my family. Okay… first let me explain one thing. I was born here and can not go back into the free nature. I am not supposed to know how to catch my own food. With other words, I would not survive in the wild. Further more… we… barnowls are an endangered species and that means that my family is very close to extinction. Yes… nasty people from the past killed thousands of my beloved ancestors, so that there aren’t many barnowls left in The Netherlands. However, thanks to the good people here and everywhere else the amount of owls are increasing… so that maybe some day in the future my children can be seen in their natural habitat again. Thank you for understanding. Last but not least… I am a succesful teacher now and very happy to be alive and kicking. See you and give me a paw! |
